Seafarer local LNG fueling is the most energy, carbon and cost-efficient solution for shipping. Replacing heavy fuel oil (HFO) with LNG satisfies IMO requirements by reducing sulphur oxide emissions (over 99%) and nitrogen oxide emissions (over 90%) as well as reducing carbon emissions by over 20% and particulates over 99%.
Beyond the direct savings in shipping emissions, Seafarer will be sourcing natural gas from key basins: Marcellus, Permian and Eagle Ford. Marcellus basin production has among the lowest carbon intensity in the world. Due to a lack of markets, Permian Basin natural gas is regularly flared off. Seafarer will utilize this wasted energy asset to provide clean fueling for Atlantic and Gulf shipping.
Seafarer is developing the ability to incorporate Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and biogas feedstock optionality to further reduce the carbon profile for customers who request or require it.
